Today’s systems can tend to address increasingly higher scalability needs improperly. But thankfully, if we use the actor model we don’t have to scrap everything we know. The actor model more closely matches our natural communication, so we no longer have to worry about the executing mechanism of the application which is a closer match to our worldview. There are a couple of solutions for implementing an actor model that works well in the Microsoft ecosystem, Akka.net, and Orleans. We will discuss and demonstrate how you can use either of these solutions, both benefits and drawbacks, and why you might want to use the actor model.
